SOLAR RESPONSIVE RENOVATION:
The renovation of this 45 year-old residence involved approximately 75 percent of the interior space and the addition of a redwood loggia and deck. The existing windows and awnings were not complimentary to the house, so the exterior walls of this U-shaped housed were renovated to open views to a beautifully landscaped site, with the covered loggia providing passive solar shading for the south and west facing walls. The plan was reorganized to create interior gallery corridors opposite the loggia along the west bedroom side and opening to the dining area and kitchen on the east. Interior finishes include custom cherry cabinets and cork flooring.
